It's over (well actually it isn't)

Today is my final day I was aware about a month ago the final result wasn't going to be perfect and as I'm a fussy so and so I want some refinement. I went to see my ortho, Steph, today to have the attachments removed (oh I love that drill, not!) then I spoke about the refinement I wanted. She took some impressions again (upper/lower/bite) and I have to go back tomorrow as she didn't have her camera for the all important pics.

The lowerset are everso slightly overlapping and the upper set seem wonky in front and the lateral incisors (either side of the two front teeth) are still slightly inverted and the canines need a little tweeking.

I estimated another 4 to 5 sets of aligners, but Steph thinks it may well be 10. Oh well. I'm not that bothered, I'm just looking forward to not having to take my toothbrush, paste and floss everywhere with me all the time. Almost final pic attached

Check up with a little IPR

I'm on Aligner 24 and I haven't had any treatment at the Orthodontist since then so I had a check up today, just to make sure everything is going swimmingly. I'd noticed about a week back that I could feel a ledge when flossing between my upper lateral incisor and my canine on the right side so Stephanie got the little scrapy thing out and shaved it off. Other than than she was very impressed with the amount of movement in my canines. I'm still concerned about the movement of the upper central incisors (the two front teeth) as they appear to be at an angle so rather than moving 'bodily' to align the midline the have swung at an angle. Steph noted this down as I will probably need a refinement done so I wanted her to mention this to Align Tech when the refinement impressions are made.

She asked me about how I keep the final aligner (that I still wear at night) clean. I told her that I just store it in Milton all day, but it's not as sparkly as it was fresh out of the package.

I'm looking forward to the end results as I only have 2 more months! I'm going back next week for the last lot of IPR.

I will post some progress pics soon.

No change and I'm officially sponsored!

I saw Stephanie for my penultimate IPR on Thursday. It was so quick with her burr of choice. I discussed the issue with the sticking out edge of the Invisalign on my right canine. It hasn't been so bad on aligner 17 & 18 and I'm now on 19. I think my tooth may have had difficulty in moving or it's now moved to a slightly misaligned position, either way it can be dealt with in the refinement process, along with the bottom set which aren't absolutely to plan. I'm now posting my blog at bracesreview.com under the name Langomango. Rest assured my reviews will be unbiased, if only they'd offered to reimburse the cost of the treatment! LOL.

Little bit concerned

Well I would have updated earlier, but I have busy/lazy/Christmassy/Post-Christmassy etc. The I wrote an update and sent to to my email account but I must have deleted it (friggin BlackBerry) so here I am

My lower set finished about 5 weeks ago, I know I'll need some 'refinement' work done as they are not quite dead straight, but slightly overlap.

My Ortho and I came to the mutually agreed decision that I would leave my attachments on the lower set and then when the upper set is finished (in June) I'll have the refinement done for both lower and upper if needed, which brings me on to my little concern...

When I last visited the doc she reattached the attachment on my right canine (using the shell template) but the past two aligners do not fit exactly over my canine now, I think (though not 100% sure) that the shell template which is based on my old, not 'rotated' tooth is slightly off for the way they are positioned now, although I'm sure it will be teensy micro-millimetres out of place, it means the Invisalign is now cutting my inside lip which hurts like hell. I'll see her next week to discuss this.

ClinCheck

I thought I'd post my ClinCheck that my ortho kindly sent me. You can see the changes in my teeth. so some reason I find it more impressive just to pause the start and the end of the animation to look at the vast difference.

I mentioned to my dentist that I was not sure whether my teeth either side of my two front teeth would come down to meet the length of the two front ones. I don't know if this will happen. I hope it does.

I can't believe I only have a two weeks to go on the bottom set. I have to decided on what type of retainer I want. which is hard because they both have advantages and disadvantages. the convenience of the removable retainer is great but it's not as secure as the fixed one. Choices!

I'm not sure whether the bottom set will be perfectly aligned in two weeks, so I may need refinement.

Surprise IPR and a little bit of ouch!

Well I haven't updated in a long time, mainly because there's not been too much to report on. Same ol' same ol'. New Aligners every two weeks. The usual vice like grip for the first day or so, then back to normality.

I thought I'd give you an update. I went out the other night and took my aligners out so I could have a drink (I didn't want to get Modelo Negro beer all over them!) and I managed to break off two of my lower set attachments, so I made an appointment to have replacements and it's a good job I did because I was actually due some more IPR. that both my Ortho and I was unaware of! I hope my gaps close up soon, I'm beginning to look like a yokel.

Let me just say this lower set has been the most uncomfortable of all my sets so far, I think the Invisalign technician must have been on crack, on Friday night I gave in and filed the razor sharp edges away with an emery board, which did the trick (Oh the relief!) but unfortunately the lacerations from the appliance had been made, so the new soft edges are still rubbing somewhat, so I'll have to soldier on (OK, so I'm being tad melodramatic)

Yesterday I ate a really nice breakfast of Irish sausage and egg, the sausage was really hot and I burned the roof of my mouth right where it meets the back of my teeth. Lots of skin came away it was pretty gross, but as if my mouth hadn't had enough torture from the rough Invisalign, now it's really suffering and the Upper invisalign really hurts where it rubs. I've swooshed a few times with Corsodyl and taken some Cocodamol.

My teeth are really changing position (yeah, I know that's the idea!) Someone who saw me at the beginning of the treatment said they couldn't believe the difference. I can't believe I only have 3 more of the lower set to go and then maybe some refinement- but it's going so fast.

Crack!

I have a crack in my upper set (I'm on the 7th set now) The movement has happened I'm pretty sure because they are not ultra tight. Anyway the split is on the inner roof of my mouth side and it must have happened after I had my lunch today, as when I could taste blood and I went to the bathroom and they upper set had filled up with blood. I think the split had cut me or pinched me. Oh well I rinsed them out and it was ok. I'm gonna email my Ortho to see if I should switch to the other set I'm due to change into on Thursday. I'm not too sure I will be able to cos I have 2 lots of IPR due, at the front :-( so I'll be gappy soon.
